- Base variant of Kia Seltos in Indian market scores 3 out of 5 in adult safety and 2 out of 5 in child safety.
- Shockingly, the Seltos’ bodyshell and footwell were also considered unstable. It declares that Kia Seltos is not capable of withstanding further loadings.
Kia Seltos Review NCAP Rating
Global New Car Assessment Programme (NCAP) crash-tested the Kia Seltos review and after testing it has received an average of three stars for adult passenger safety and a poor two stars for child passenger safety. While crash testing the Seltos, GNCAP used the HTE variant which only comes with dual front airbags and ABS with EBD but misses out on ISOFIX child seat anchorages and a three-point seatbelt for the middle-rear occupant.
The vehicle was running at 64kmph when it was crash tested. The first Kia named Kia Seltos got a score of 8.03 out of 17 for grown-up security with the head assurance considered ‘sufficient’ as both the passengers reached as far down as possible the airbags. The neck protection was ‘good’ for both the front passengers. The chest protection was ‘good’ for the co-driver and ‘negligible’ for the driver.
The safety for the driver and co-driver’s knee was evaluated as ‘peripheral’ and GNCAP noticed that it was inclined to interact with ‘perilous designs behind the dashboard’.
The Kia Seltos deals with a terrible 15 out of 49 points for child tenant safety. GNCAP advised against Child Restraint Systems (CRS). A three-year-old dummy passenger in a front oriented seat got ‘restricted safety” for the head and neck. A 18-month-old dummy passenger in an rear oriented confronting seat got ‘adequate safety’.
The Global NCAP noticed that the base Seltos HTE isn’t outfitted with 3-point safety belts and ISOFIX mounts which comes combined with HTX onwards.
